At the Elka Boutique: Céline Reymond and the Poetry of Passing Time

Since opening our boutique in the heart of Neuchâtel, on Rue des Chavannes, I have envisioned this space not only as a showcase for Elka collections but also as a living venue for exchange, connection, and artistic expression. In keeping with this vision, I am delighted to welcome Neuchâtel artist Céline Reymond for an exclusive exhibition starting July 10th.

Who is Céline Reymond?

A photolithographer by trade and a visual artist based in Chaumont, Céline Reymond works with mixed media. Her art is a subtle exploration of material, texture, and visual sediment. Drawn to history, ancient stones, and forgotten structures, she captures what others often merely brush past: the patina of an old door, the successive layers of paint on the hull of an abandoned boat, or the memory etched into a weathered wall worn down by generations. On canvas, she layers, scrapes, and reveals materials to bring forth a perfect balance between lived experiences and a profound quest for truth.

Why this choice? A shared resonance

Entrusting the boutique walls to Céline Reymond felt like a natural creative and philosophical choice. At Elka Watch Co., my entire approach is guided by a single mantra: "Form Follows Feeling." I do not create watches solely for their mechanics, but for the stories they tell and the emotions they evoke. The design of the Elka series draws deep inspiration from the past—from 1960s minimalism to historical aesthetics—to reinterpret time with a contemporary sensibility. Céline’s work resonates on this exact same frequency. Where I shape time through pebble-shaped cases or minimalist dials, Céline freezes it, giving it form through texture and color. Her pieces speak of the marks life leaves behind, the unspoken words, and the layers each of us carries within. Welcoming her paintings into our space starting July 10th brings together two worlds that share the same fascination with the imprint of time, memory, and raw emotion. Her textures and nuances blend beautifully with the vintage and design-led atmosphere of the boutique.

Come and discover the exhibition

I warmly invite you to step through the door of our downtown Neuchâtel boutique starting July 10th to experience this synergy between independent watchmaking and visual art. Take a moment to observe these works, feel the textures, and perhaps discuss design and watchmaking over a shared moment.
