Time is no longer merely measured; it now inhabits space. Since the opening of our new meeting point in Neuchâtel last week, UTINAM creations have been transforming our vision of mechanical horology.

Philippe Lebru: The Man Who Makes Steel Vibrate

Born in Besançon, the historic cradle of French watchmaking, the UTINAM manufacture is the result of Philippe Lebru’s boundless imagination. Winner of the Grand Prix at the Concours Lépine and a gold medalist at the Geneva Inventions Exhibition, this creator-inventor achieved a daring feat: liberating the traditional Comtoise clock from its conventional constraints to transform it into a contemporary, ethereal work of art. From the TGV stations of Besançon to the skylines of Tokyo, Lebru’s monumental clocks fascinate onlookers with their perpetual motion and skeleton structures that reveal the true magic of the gears.

Mechanics as Sculpture

The architectural clocks featured in our space on Rue des Chavannes are much more than mere timekeepers. They are kinetic sculptures. Whether it is the iconic Pop Up model or the sleek lines of the Hortence collection, each piece is powered by a unique, patented movement:

  • Suspended Balance: A majestic pendulum that appears to float, creating an almost hypnotic presence in the room.
  • Radical Design: An aesthetic that plays with void and matter, utilizing steel and glass to magnify the clock's function.
  • Eternal Craftsmanship: While resolutely modern, these clocks respect the highest standards of artisanal mechanics from the Jura Arc.
